Stimson IRC 42

The Stimson IRC 42 has been designed with two goals in mind – to win races and to offer excellent handling. Her clean lines and medium displacement are those of an agile racer, but her stability characteristics and good manners are highly suitable for training/charter activities with crews of mixed abilities. This balance enables the boat to be sailed confidently by virtual novices, whilst the attainable raw performance will reward the more experienced crews with results at the highest levels of competition.

Although the sail plan and deck layout are as you would expect for a grand-prix race boat, the flexibility in specification enables the Stimson IRC 42 to be tailored for a range of activities – from the more utilitarian training charter to professional race campaigns. Aluminium racing or stainless standard winches, stand-alone hydraulic backstay or integrated backstay and vang hydraulic packs,

carbon or aluminium mast – these are just some of the choices you make as you

commission your boat, providing an impressive quota of customisation to an otherwise cost-effective production boat.

The Stimson IRC 42 brings together state of the art design processes with proven composite materials and build technology. Her hull, keel, bulb and rudder are the products of extensive analysis using CFD and VPP design tools to maximise performance and optimise the rating under IRC. As a result, she is a highly tuned race boat with performance underpinning the design concept. In order to fulfil her versatility, however, these performance attributes have been balanced with good handling characteristics, as well as low running and maintenance costs. In addition, the yacht’s fine entry and powerful stern offers a low wetted surface area for impressive light airs racing, providing owners with a good all round performance profile.

Practical considerations have taken precedent over aesthetics to provide basic yet comfortable accommodation for an offshore race crew. Whilst modest and low maintenance, the interior finish is of the high

standard you would expect from Swedish craftsmanship.

All in all, the Stimson IRC 42 will offer both exhilaration and a great ride for seasoned race boat owners and crews, as well as the handling and stability demanded of successful training/charter boats.
